Ardara Show and Midwest Donegal Vintage Club Launch New Horse & Heritage Day for Summer 2026
The Ardara Show and the Midwest Donegal Vintage Club are delighted to announce that they will co-host an exciting new event in Ardara this summer.
The Ardara Summer Show – Horse & Heritage Day will take place on Saturday, August 15th, 2026, as the second day of the Ardara Shows, promising a fantastic family day out celebrating horses, heritage and community spirit.
The event will shine a spotlight on the area’s strong equestrian traditions. The Horse Section, which would traditionally run on Show Day, will instead take centre stage on August 15th, giving visitors the opportunity to fully enjoy the Horse, Pony and Riding Classes and experience this element of the Show in its entirety.
Adding to the day’s attractions, the Midwest Donegal Vintage Club will present an impressive display of vintage machinery and vehicles, offering a nostalgic look at rural life and enhancing the overall heritage theme.
Speaking ahead of the event, Show Secretary Tracey McGill said:
“We are really excited to introduce this new Horse & Heritage Day as part of the Ardara Shows. It gives us an opportunity to further celebrate our equestrian traditions while also showcasing the rich heritage and community spirit that Ardara is known for. We look forward to welcoming both locals and visitors for what promises to be a truly enjoyable day.”
A spokesperson for the Midwest Donegal Vintage Club, Daniel Moy added:
“We are delighted to be part of this new event in Ardara. It’s a great opportunity to showcase vintage machinery and vehicles while working alongside the Ardara Show to celebrate the heritage and traditions of the area. It promises to be a fantastic day for all the family.”
Organisers say the event will form part of an expanded festival-style offering for Ardara, with more attractions and activities currently in development. Further details will be announced in the coming months.
